James Hardie Horizontal Lap Siding & Anlin Windows in Sacramento, CA 95824
The exterior of this Sacramento home went from tired, mismatched siding to a clean wrap of James Hardie lap in Navajo Beige with crisp Arctic White trim. Our crew stripped the old wood, vinyl, and fiber-cement siding down to the framing where new material was going, while leaving the existing stone face at the front of the house untouched at the homeowner's request. We also cleared out an old patio cover at the rear and a shed off the property to open up the work area and finish the walls cleanly.
With the walls bare, we inspected the structure and addressed dry rot before sheathing the home in 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB for shear strength, which passed the city's nailing inspection. Over that went HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing to keep moisture out of the new system. We then installed James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection, trimming the openings and corners with 5/4-by-4 Hardie trim and the double garage door with 5/4-by-6. The existing security bars came off before siding and went back up once the walls were finished.
On the window side, we swapped six units for Anlin Catalina retrofit vinyl windows with the Infinit-e glass package - XO sliders at the front and rear, an end-vent slider at the front, and a tempered, obscured-glass slider for the rear bathroom.
