James Hardie Siding & Vinyl Windows in Oakland, CA 94619
This 1942 Oakland home wore aging stucco that had seen better decades. We stripped it down to the framing, corrected the weather barrier at the foundation joint, and reclad the wall in James Hardie fiber cement. The result is a crisp, clean elevation in Custom Colonial Smooth lap siding that reads sharper and far more current than the cracked stucco it replaced.
Before any new siding went up, our crew added fresh OSB sheathing for a sound, even substrate and proper shear, then set a continuous weather-resistive barrier where the wall meets the foundation to keep moisture out. The field siding is HardiePlank in the 8 1/4-inch lap with the Custom Colonial Smooth profile, giving the wall a consistent shadow line across its length. We also installed a new Alside Mezzo vinyl window. Since the house predates 1978, the surface was tested for lead-based paint and handled accordingly during demolition.
