The exterior of this Sonoma home looks noticeably sharper now that the chimney, gable, and front face wear fresh FTX Cedar Sidewall panel siding. The dated, weathered cladding that once flattened the front of the house has given way to a clean cedar-textured panel with crisp trim lines around every opening. The change reads most clearly across the front face and gable, where the new siding and freshly painted eaves pulled the whole elevation together.

Our crew started by tearing off the old siding down to the framing, then inspected the wall cavities and handled the dry rot we found before any new material went up. A Tyvek weather barrier went over the sheathing with taped seams to keep moisture out, followed by the FTX Cedar panels in their Natural finish for their impact resistance and ability to shrug off Sonoma's humidity and temperature swings. We wrapped the openings and corners in LP SmartSide 5/4-by-4 cedar-texture trim, then primed and painted the new siding along with the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation. On the window side, we swapped in Milgard Trinsic Series new-construction vinyl units - two windows and one slider - fitted with Low-E 366 glass and argon gas for year-round efficiency.
