James Hardie Siding in Mill Valley, CA 94941
The change here is easy to see from the street: the front, garage, and back facets of this Mill Valley home went from tired, weathered siding to a clean run of James Hardie lap siding in Monterey Taupe. We re-clad the high walls, the area below the front deck, and the back of the house, then wrapped the openings and corners in crisp Cobble Stone trim. The contrast between the taupe field and the lighter trim gives the exterior a sharper, more finished look than it had before.
We started by setting up safety access for the high walls and hard-to-reach facets, then opened things up to inspect the framing. Where we found dry rot in the structural members, we cut out and replaced the damaged material before any new cladding went on. With the walls sound, our crew installed HardieWrap weather barrier across the exterior, set Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening, and ran metal z-flashing to keep moisture out of the seams. From there we hung the Statement Collection ColorPlus lap siding, finished the openings, corners, and double garage doors with 5/4-by-4 and 5/4-by-6 HardieTrim, and painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation to tie the whole exterior together.
