James Hardie Siding in Santa Rosa, CA 95403
The owners of this Santa Rosa home wanted an exterior that would hold up to the elements while reading clean and modern, and the finished result delivers exactly that. We stripped the home down to the studs' sheathing, replacing all of the old siding and trim with the James Hardie ColorPlus Statement Collection in Aged Pewter. The deep, slightly metallic gray gives the house a crisp, contemporary look that the previous finish never had.
Before any new material went up, our crew tore off the existing siding and trim down to the sheathing and inspected the wall framing for hidden damage. We addressed the dry rot we found, then wrapped the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed every window and door opening with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and added metal z-flashing for permanent moisture protection. The lap siding went on over that system, trimmed out in 5/4x4 Hardie ColorPlus around the windows, doors, and corners, with 5/4x6 trim framing the double garage. We also painted the eaves, fascia, foundation, and both the automatic garage door and side man door to tie the whole exterior together.
While the walls were open, we swapped out one aging slider for a new-construction Anlin Catalina vinyl sliding glass door with the Low-E 366 glass package, improving both energy efficiency and the comfort inside. After the install, downspouts and house numbers went back in place and the site was cleared of all demo debris.
