Evening Blue HardiePlank lap siding in a Cedarmill texture gives this Daly City home a crisp, coastal-ready exterior that holds up to the fog and wind that come with the territory. We replaced the original wood siding across the wood-sided sections of the house, leaving the existing stucco areas as they were. The deep blue tone and woodgrain finish suit the home's lines, and the factory-baked ColorPlus finish means the color is locked in rather than relying on field paint.

After setting up the staging needed to reach the high walls and tight-access areas, our crew tore off the old siding down to the framing and inspected the exposed wall members for dry rot, making structural repairs where decay was found. Because the original inspection couldn't confirm whether solid shear sheathing existed beneath the old system, we opened things up carefully before moving forward. We then wrapped the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed window and door openings with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and added metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection. The 8.25-inch Evening Blue Cedarmill planks went on over that assembly, with 5/4-by-4 Hardie ColorPlus trim framing the openings and corners.

To finish, we painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation along the perimeter, then reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers that came off for the siding work.
