James Hardie Siding & Simonton Window Installation in Foster City, CA 94404
The owners of this Foster City home wanted to retire failing exterior siding and drafty windows in one coordinated project, and the finished house delivers on both counts. We stripped the home down to the studs on the exterior, rebuilt the wall system, and wrapped everything in James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding. The result is a crisp, low-maintenance exterior with windows that finally hold their seal against summer heat and winter chill.
Working from the demolition up, our crew tore off the old siding and trim around every door, window, and corner, then installed new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB sheathing and passed the city's shear-wall nailing inspection for added structural strength. Over that we applied HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing throughout for long-term moisture protection. The home was sided in James Hardie Plank lap siding from the Statement Collection in Pearl Gray, finished with 5/4 ColorPlus trim in Arctic White around windows, doors, garage openings, and corners, then completed with exterior paint.
On the window side, we replaced 16 units with Simonton Daylight Max vinyl windows, installed as new-construction openings with fresh flashing, insulation, and Hardie trim cut in around each. The Daylight Max line carries Low-E 366 glass and argon gas fill, pushing energy performance well past federal and state efficiency standards in both seasons.
