James Hardie Siding & Milgard Windows Installation in Foster City, CA 94404

The owners of this Foster City home wanted to retire their aging exterior and finish with a clean, modern fiber-cement wall system that would stand up to the local climate. We stripped the house back to the studs where the old siding came off, rebuilt with new sheathing, and wrapped it in James Hardie's ColorPlus lap siding in Pearl Gray. The result is a crisp, low-maintenance exterior paired with 18 new Milgard windows and three sliders.

After tearing off the existing siding and trim down to the framing, our crew inspected the wall structure for dry rot and repaired damaged framing and sheathing with exterior-grade OSB. From there we installed half-inch CDX plywood for shear-wall strength and passed the city's nailing inspection before any new cladding went up. A HardieWrap weather barrier went over the sheathing, with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening and metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection.

The cladding is James Hardie Statement Collection lap siding in Cedarmill 8.25-inch Pearl Gray, finished with 5/4-by-6 trim at the garage doors and 5/4-by-4 trim around every window, door, and corner. The 18 Tuscany windows and three Tuscany sliders were spec'd with the Milgard Sound Package to cut outside noise. We power washed and painted the eaves to match the new ColorPlus color, cut in three openings for future bathroom venting, and reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers once the siding was complete.
