James Hardie Lap Siding & Andersen A100 Windows in Alameda, CA 94502
James Hardie's ColorPlus lap siding in Monterey Taupe gives this Alameda home a warm, fiber-cement exterior built to stand up to the bay's coastal moisture. We stripped the existing siding down to the studs across the whole main structure, then re-sheathed the walls in half-inch plywood for shear strength and passed the city's nailing inspection before any new siding went up. The result is a tight, weather-ready envelope with a clean, consistent finish on every wall.
Behind the siding we installed HardieWrap weather barrier across the exterior walls, along with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings and metal z-flashing for permanent moisture protection. The siding is finished with James Hardie 5/4 ColorPlus trim - 5/4x4 around the windows, doors, and corners and 5/4x6 on the double garage door - all hand-painted on site with a brush for a crisp, even look. We also painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation to tie the perimeter together. Three Andersen A100 windows were swapped in, each carrying Low-E 366 glass with argon fill for stronger insulation through Alameda's cool summers and damp winters.
