James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding in Monterey Taupe now wraps every exterior wall of this Folsom home, a fiber-cement system built to stand up to the Sacramento Valley's heat and seasonal swings. We started by stripping off all the old siding and trim down to the framing, then hauled the debris away before building the wall assembly back the right way. The result is a clean, durable shell with crisp white trim that reads sharper than the original ever did.

Before any siding went up, our crew sheathed the walls in new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB for shear strength and passed the city's nailing inspection. Over that we installed a full HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening, and metal z-flashing to keep moisture out of the assembly long-term. The Statement Collection lap siding went on next, finished with 5/4x4 Hardie trim in Smooth Glacier White around all openings and corners. To tie the exterior together, we painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation, then reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers once the siding was complete.
