James Hardie Siding Replacement in Sonoma, CA 95476
Set in a Sonoma neighborhood, this home now wears a deep Evening Blue lap siding offset by crisp Arctic White trim - a clean, modern look that reads sharp from the street. We stripped the old trims and battens, kept the existing half-inch plywood siding in place to serve as sheathing, and rebuilt the exterior from the weather barrier out. New windows and reworked sill heights along the driveway side rounded out a full envelope update.
Our crew installed James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection in Evening Blue, with 5/4-by-4 Hardie trim in smooth-grain Arctic White wrapping the openings and corners. Before any siding went up, we covered the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed the window and door openings with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and ran metal z-flashing for layered moisture protection. During tear-off we inspected the wall framing for dry rot and made structural repairs to the damaged areas we uncovered. To complete the color story, we painted the foundation, gutters, downspouts, eaves, fascias, and flashings to complement the pre-finished siding and trim.
On the glazing side, we replaced 14 windows and 3 sliding patio doors with Milgard Trinsic units in a white interior and bronze exterior, fitted with SmarTouch locks and screens. Six windows facing the street carry cottage-style grids between the glass at the top, and four windows along the driveway had their sills cut down roughly 12 to 14 inches, with new interior wood sills installed at the lower height.
