James Hardie Siding Replacement in Oakland, CA 94608
The homeowners here wanted a fresh, modern exterior that would hold up to Oakland's climate and stand out on the block, and the finished home delivers exactly that. We stripped the old, weathered siding and trim down to the framing, then rebuilt the walls with a James Hardie fiber cement system in a deep Evening Blue with crisp Arctic White trim. The bold color against the bright trim gives the house a clean, contemporary face that reads sharp from the street.
Once the existing wood, vinyl, and fiber cement layers were torn off and hauled away, our crew inspected the wall structure for dry rot and made repairs where decay had set in. We re-sheathed the upper level with new half-inch exterior plywood for shear strength, since the lower level had already been sheathed, then wrapped the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier. Window and door openings were detailed with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing and metal z-flashing for permanent moisture protection before the new siding went on. We finished the openings and corners with James Hardie ColorPlus 5/4-by-4 trim in Arctic White, then painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation to tie the whole exterior together.
Working on this home meant safely accessing high walls and tight spots, which is where our siding team is most at home. Downspouts, house numbers, and other fixtures pulled for the install went back up once the new siding was complete.
