James Hardie Siding Installation in Pleasanton, CA 94566
The care on this Pleasanton siding project started with how we approached the heights and hard-to-reach walls - our crew set up the right safety rigging before a single board came down, then worked methodically around every window, door, and corner. The street-facing and back walls had their old siding and trim stripped to the studs, while the newer LP siding sections were left in place. With the walls open, we inspected the framing for dry rot, replaced any damaged members and sheathing, and brought everything back to a clean, square base for the new James Hardie system.
We re-sheathed the exposed walls in 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB for shear strength, passed the city's nailing inspection, and packed the stud bays with R-13 Owens Corning fiberglass insulation to meet California code. The new siding is James Hardie ColorPlus CedarMill HardiePlank lap in Aged Pewter, trimmed out with 5/4-inch Arctic White HardieTrim boards on the window and door openings, corners, and the double garage door surround. We painted the soffits, fascias, gutters, foundation, the entry column, and the north wall to match the new siding so the whole exterior reads as one. To round out the work, our team installed a new Milgard Tuscany Series vinyl window with Low-E 366 glass and argon above the entryway, hung the customer-provided garage man door, replaced the downspouts, and trimmed back the backyard pergola to clear the new siding.

We contracted GVD to re-side the two story side of our home, replace a side garage man door and install a window. Andrew Landies was our initial point of contact and he was very knowledgeable, confident, yet not pushy when we initially met with him and compared him to several other contractors we had interviewed. The estimate was not the cheapest out there, but it wasn't the highest bid we'd received either. With Andy's help, we were able to trim back our initial dream project into something that worked within our price range and ended up with a home which once was the eye sore on our block to a stunning makeover. Aleksey and his siding/painting crew were beyond phenomenal. Once they started working, the siding was torn down, hauled away, new siding installed and the existing siding that needed painting was completed in 5 working days. His crew was polite, efficient, VERY hard working, and clearly demonstrated professional expertise. I particularly appreciated that our property was cleaned up diligently at the end of every work day. When it came to finishing up with the paint and caulking, he asked that I point out any areas I felt needed final attention. I marked and pointed out specific areas with blue painters tape, and Aleksey and his crew took care of it to the smallest detail. The one glitch we encountered was a delay on the bathroom window installation which came from a delay with the supplier. All in all, even with the hiccup of the window delay, GVD did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them.
