James Hardie's CedarMill fiber cement was the right fit for this Petaluma home, giving it a crisp wood-grain texture that holds up far better than the original cladding against North Bay weather. We wrapped the exterior in CedarMill lap siding finished in Gray Slate, a cool, mid-tone gray that grounds the house, and trimmed the openings and corners in Arctic White for clean contrast. Alongside the new siding, we replaced the windows with energy-efficient Milgard vinyl units throughout.

The siding is the 8 1/4-inch CedarMill lap profile, run in even courses with the rustic-grain trim defining the corners, windows, and rooflines. The Gray Slate and Arctic White pairing keeps the look current without going trendy, and the factory finish means the color stays consistent across every board. New Milgard vinyl windows went in as part of the same scope, tightening up the home's envelope and updating the glass to modern, insulated units that cut drafts and outside noise.
