On a quiet street in Alameda's Bay Farm area, this home traded its old, tired siding for a clean coat of Evening Blue HardiePlank with crisp Arctic White trim framing every corner, window, and door. The new wrap of fiber cement gives the whole exterior a deeper, more current look while two replacement windows and a new patio slider tighten up the front. It's a sharper, more weather-ready house than the one we started on.

We re-clad the entire home in James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection in Evening Blue, paired with Rustic Grain HardieTrim boards in Arctic White around the openings and corners. After tearing off the old siding down to the studs and hauling it away, our crew installed new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB sheathing for shear strength and passed the city's nailing inspection before any siding went up. Behind the new boards we layered a full moisture system: HardieWrap weather barrier across the walls, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing to keep water moving away from the wall. Working on the higher walls and harder-to-reach areas called for full safety staging, which our siding team handles routinely.

On the window side, we swapped in two Milgard Tuscany Series retrofit vinyl windows along with a new patio slider, all carrying the Low-E 366 glass package with argon gas for better year-round efficiency. Each opening was set to operate the same as the originals, and once the cladding was buttoned up we reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers that came off for the job.
