James Hardie Prime Lap Siding & Milgard Windows in Fremont, CA 94555
The level of detail on the high walls of this Fremont home was the part our crew took the most pride in, working off staging to safely reach every gable, dormer, and second-story run. We stripped the house down to the studs' sheathing, pulling off the old siding and every trim board around the windows, doors, and corners so we could start fresh. When we opened the walls we found dry rot in the structural members and a leak history at the dormer that had shown up on the interior, so we replaced the damaged framing and rebuilt the dormer flashing before any new material went up. The finished exterior is a crisp James Hardie lap-siding system paired with new Milgard windows throughout.
We wrapped the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier and detailed every window and door opening with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, then ran metal z-flashing across the openings for permanent moisture protection. The siding is James Hardie ColorPlus lap from the Statement Collection, trimmed out in Hardie 5/4-by-4 boards at the openings and corners and 5/4-by-6 around the double garage doors. For glazing we installed thirteen Milgard Tuscany Series new-construction vinyl windows plus three sliding glass doors, all with Low-E 366 glass for energy efficiency. To finish, we painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation, then reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers once the new siding was complete.
