James Hardie Siding in San Anselmo, CA 94960
The exterior of this San Anselmo home now reads clean and modern, with crisp white lap siding and matching trim wrapping the walls and openings. We took the project from tear-off through new siding, fresh paint on the remaining surfaces, and a pair of new windows, leaving the house tight against the weather and updated front to back. Where the old wood, vinyl, and FRC siding once mixed across the walls, there's now one consistent James Hardie surface that holds its color and stands up to the local climate.
Our crew stripped the existing siding and trim down to the sheathing, inspecting the framing as we went and replacing any dry-rotted siding sheathing with exterior-grade OSB for solid backing. Before the new boards went up, we installed HardieWrap weather barrier across the walls, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing around every window and door, and metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection. The new siding is James Hardie ColorPlus lap from the Statement Collection in Prime, finished with 5/4-by-4 Hardie ColorPlus trim in Arctic White around the openings and corners. We painted the shingles, soffits, and other surfaces where lap siding wasn't installed to match, and refinished the fence at the sidewalk in front of the house.
On the window side, we replaced two Milgard Tuscany Series retrofit windows - an upstairs bay window in its existing location, and a new opening we cut and framed beside the rear slider at the homeowner's request. We also built in a swing-style access door at the skirting so the area below the subfloor stays reachable for maintenance, and reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers once the new siding was up.
