The homeowners here wanted a fresh, low-maintenance exterior that would hold up to the elements and give the house a cleaner, more defined look. We stripped the old siding down to the studs, rebuilt the wall assembly, and reclad the main structure in James Hardie's ColorPlus Statement Collection lap siding in Mountain Sage. Paired with crisp Arctic White trim around every opening and corner, this Pinole home now reads sharp and well-kept from the street.

Our crew began by setting up safety equipment to reach the high walls and harder-to-access areas, then tore off and hauled away the existing siding and trims. With the walls open, we inspected the framing for dry rot and repaired the damaged sections before sheathing the home in new 1/2-inch plywood, which we nailed off and passed the city's shear-wall inspection. Over the sheathing we installed HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the windows and doors, and metal Z-flashing to keep moisture out of the wall system for the long haul.

Trim work was handled in matching ColorPlus 5/4x4 around the windows and doors and 5/4x6 on the double garage doors, and we painted the eaves, fascia, foundation, garage door, and man door to tie the whole exterior together. A new man door matching the original was installed as part of the scope, and once the siding was up we reset the downspouts and house numbers that came off during demo.
