Set among the wooded hillsides of Orinda, this home traded its aging, weather-worn siding for a clean James Hardie exterior finished in Arctic White. Our crew worked the home's high walls and hard-to-reach sections to strip the old siding down to the framing, then rebuilt the wall system from the sheathing out. The result is a crisp, uniform fiber-cement exterior with matching white trim that gives the house a fresh, durable face.
We tore off the existing wood, vinyl, and FRC siding along with all the old trim around doors, windows, and corners, then re-sheathed the walls with new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB for shear strength and a sound substrate. During tear-off we inspected the wall framing for dry rot and made structural repairs where needed using 2x4 framing and OSB. From there we installed a full moisture-protection system - HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening, and metal z-flashing - before hanging James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection in Arctic White. Window, door, and corner openings were finished with 5/4 by 4-inch Hardie ColorPlus trim in the same color.
Our team coordinated with the window and framing contractors on the new addition walls, header modifications, and shear-wall requirements so the siding system tied in cleanly. Once the siding was up, we cleaned the work areas and reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers that came off during the install.
