James Hardie Lap Siding Installation in Richmond, CA 94805
Set in Richmond's Park Plaza neighborhood, this home now wears a clean coat of James Hardie lap siding in Evening Blue, with crisp Arctic White trim framing every window, door, and corner. The old siding had reached the end of its service life, so we stripped the exterior down to the studs and rebuilt it as a complete, weather-ready system. The deep blue field against the bright white trim gives the house a sharp, current look that holds up to the coastal climate.
Our crew removed all of the existing siding and trim, then inspected the wall framing for dry rot and repaired the damaged areas we uncovered. We added Owens Corning R-13 fiberglass insulation between the studs and re-sheathed the walls with half-inch exterior plywood for shear strength, passing the city's nailing inspection before any siding went up. A full moisture system followed: HardieWrap weather barrier across the walls, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing throughout. We finished the openings and corners with 5/4-by-6 and 5/4-by-4 Hardie trim, painted the eaves, fascia, and foundation perimeter, and reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers once the Statement Collection lap siding was in place.
