James Hardie Lap Plank Siding Installation in Millbrae, CA 94030

The homeowners wanted a cleaner, more modern exterior with siding that could stand up to the coastal weather around Millbrae, and that's exactly what the finished house delivers. We stripped the old siding down to the studs and rebuilt the wall system from the framing out, finishing in James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding in Gray Slate with crisp Arctic White trim. The result is a low-maintenance, durable shell with a tailored, contemporary look.

With the existing siding and trim removed and hauled away, our crew added Owens Corning R-13 fiberglass insulation between the studs and re-sheathed the walls in half-inch plywood for shear strength, passing the city's shear-nailing inspection before moving on. During tear-off we inspected the framing for dry rot and made the repairs needed to give the new system a sound base. From there we wrapped the home in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed the window and door openings with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and set metal z-flashing before installing the Statement Collection lap planks. New 5/4-by-4 Hardie trim wraps the windows, doors, and corners, with 5/4-by-6 trim on the garage door, and we painted the eaves, fascia, foundation, garage man door, and overhead garage door to tie it all together.
