James Hardie & Simonton Window Install in Sonoma, CA 95476
The owners of this Sonoma home wanted a cleaner, more modern exterior with siding built to hold up against the local climate, and the finished result delivers exactly that. Our crew stripped the old siding down to the framing, rebuilt the weather protection from scratch, and wrapped the whole house in James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding in Boothbay Blue. Two new windows and a back French door opening, plus a new front door, round out the upgrade.
We went with smooth-board lap siding from the Hardie Statement Collection, factory-finished in Boothbay Blue so the color is baked into the panel rather than painted on site. Before any siding went up, the walls were sheathed in HardieWrap weather barrier, with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing detailed around every window and door opening and metal z-flashing at the horizontal transitions to keep water moving away from the structure. Hardie 5/4-inch by 4-inch trim frames the openings and corners, and matching 5/4-inch by 6-inch trim defines the double garage doors. The eaves, fascia, foundation, and garage door were painted to tie the whole exterior together.
During the tear-off our team inspected the wall framing for dry rot and made repairs where damaged material was found before closing the walls back up. For glazing, we installed Simonton DaylightMax Series premium vinyl windows, which carry slim frames for more glass and a cleaner sightline, along with the new French door at the rear opening.
